About

Kings Kaleidoscope, an American Christian rock band, originated in 2010 in Seattle, Washington, at a Mars Hill Church plant tied to the University of Washington. Led by Chadwick “Chad” Gardner, the band initially featured local college students and church volunteers as collaborators. Their early sound incorporated elements from math rock and hip-hop, alongside a rich tapestry of electronic, woodwind, string, and brass instruments. The band gained early recognition with their first live EP, “Sin,” recorded during a Good Friday service in 2011, and followed this with the studio EP “Asaph’s Arrows” and the Christmas-themed “Joy Has Dawned.”

In late 2013, Kings Kaleidoscope transitioned from Mars Hill Church, marking a significant turning point in their career. They partnered with BadChristian Music to release their fourth EP, “Live in Color,” in 2014, and subsequently released their debut LP, “Becoming Who We Are,” through BadChristian Music and Tooth & Nail Records in October 2014. Their second studio album, “Beyond Control,” released in June 2016, became their most commercially successful project to date. The band continued to evolve, releasing the mixtape “The Beauty Between” in 2017, featuring collaborations with artists like Propaganda, Andy Mineo, and Derek Minor. This project introduced new core members Daniel Steele and John McNeill, who contributed significantly to the band’s expanding sound.

The band’s journey continued with the release of their third studio album, “Zeal,” in April 2019, followed by an international tour. In response to global events and social climate, they released the “Power Perfect” EP in October 2020. Kings Kaleidoscope further expanded their discography with “Baptized Imagination” in November 2022 and a self-titled album in August 2023. Throughout their career, Chad Gardner has remained the consistent core, leading a rotating collective of musicians. Brian Eichelberger and Zach Bolen of Citizens have also played crucial roles in songwriting and production, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that defines Kings Kaleidoscope’s musical identity and broad appeal.
