Koe Wetzel

Ropyr Madison Koe Wetzel, born on July 14, 1992, in Pittsburg, Texas, embarked on a musical career after initially pursuing a path in collegiate sports. His mother, a touring country singer, exposed him to the music industry from an early age, with Wetzel performing on stage for the first time at six years old. He later attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, as a linebacker before shifting his focus to music. This transition marked the beginning of his journey as a recording artist, where he would go on to self-release early works and develop his unique musical style.

Wetzel formed “Koe Wetzel and Konvicts,” initially self-releasing an EP titled “Love and Lies” in 2012 and the full-length album “Out on Parole” in 2015. His music quickly gained traction among college students and young adults, noted for its “rowdy” themes and lyrics. The release of “Noise Complaint” in 2016 became his breakout album, leading to the solidification of his band’s identity under just his name. In early 2018, the band signed with Red 11 Music in Austin, TX, and later with Floating Leaf Entertainment in 2019, securing a joint venture with Jeb Hurt.

His career progression continued with significant releases such as “Harold Saul High” in 2019, which achieved commercial success by charting on the Billboard 200. This was followed by “Sellout” in 2020, an album explicitly named to acknowledge his signing with major label Columbia Records. Wetzel has consistently blended country and rock influences, often referring to his style as “Hillbilly Punk-Rock,” incorporating elements of grunge and hip-hop. In 2023, he expanded his entrepreneurial ventures by becoming a partner in Koe Wetzel’s Riot Room, a restaurant-bar and live music venue in Fort Worth, Texas.
