Alvaro Tauchert Soler was born on January 9, 1991, in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Catalonia, Spain, to a German father and a Spanish-Belgian mother. His childhood involved a period of living in Japan from ages 10 to 17, where he began piano lessons. Upon returning to Barcelona in 2010, Soler co-founded the band Urban Lights with his brother and friends, performing a blend of British pop, indie pop, and electronic music. The band gained local recognition, winning a university music contest and reaching the top eight in the Spanish music casting contest ¡Tú sí que vales! in 2013. During this time, Soler also pursued studies in industrial design at Escuela de Grafismo Elisava, demonstrating an early engagement with both creative arts and design.
In 2014, Soler transitioned to a solo career, relocating to Berlin, Germany. He released his debut solo single “El mismo sol” on April 24, 2015. The song quickly achieved significant success, reaching number one in Italy on the FIMI chart, where it was certified double platinum, and also topping the Swiss Hitparade singles chart. This success led to the release of his debut solo album, “Eterno agosto,” on June 23, 2015, under Universal Music. The album reached number one in Switzerland and Italy, earning three gold discs and one platinum disc. A special bilingual version of “El mismo sol” featuring Jennifer Lopez further broadened his international appeal, especially in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Soler’s career continued to build momentum with the release of his single “Sofia” in 2016, which charted at number one in several European countries, including Poland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belgium, and Switzerland. This song remains his most-viewed video on YouTube. In 2016, he served as a judge on the tenth series of the Italian talent show X Factor and performed at the Latin American Music Awards. Over the years, Soler has released four studio albums: “Eterno agosto” (2015), “Mar de colores” (2018), “Magia” (2021), and “El Camino” (2025). His single “La cintura” from his second album also became a pan-European hit. Beyond music, Soler voiced Camilo Madrigal in the German and Italian dubs of Disney’s 2021 film Encanto and has been a coach on The Voice Kids (German TV series) across multiple seasons.
