Kosheen

Kosheen, an Anglo-Welsh electronic music group based in Bristol, was formed with singer-songwriter Sian Evans, songwriter-producer Ron Mcelroy, and drummer Mitchell Glover. The group gained prominence with their debut album, ‘Resist,’ released in 2001, which featured the hit single ‘Hide U’ and achieved platinum sales. This album reached number eight on the UK album chart, establishing Kosheen in the electronic music scene. Their initial success was followed by other notable singles like ‘Catch,’ ‘Hungry,’ and ‘All In My Head,’ further solidifying their position in both UK and European music charts.

Building on their debut, Kosheen released their second album, ‘Kokopelli,’ in 2003, which climbed to number seven on the UK album chart. This album demonstrated an evolution in their sound, incorporating more guitar riffs and a darker lyrical tone, moving away from a primary drum and bass focus. ‘Damage’ followed in 2007, and by 2010, the band launched their own label, Skeleton. They continued to release albums, including ‘Independence’ in 2012 and ‘Solitude’ in 2013, contributing to a discography of five studio albums. The group built a reputation for live performances throughout this period.

After a period where individual members pursued solo projects, Kosheen reunited in 2019 and resumed touring. In 2023, the band embarked on a worldwide tour to commemorate 25 years of Kosheen’s music, performing a selection of tracks from their career. This included a significant performance with a full orchestra at London’s Koko, showcasing their versatility and catalog. Sian Evans continues to lead the group, engaging with audiences across various countries, including appearances at events such as the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
