Lasgo is a Belgian electronic music group that began in 2000. The original lineup included Peter Luts, Dave McCullen, and singer Evi Goffin. Their debut single, “Something,” released in the summer of 2001, achieved significant success across Europe, reaching number 5 in Belgium and number 4 in the UK Singles Chart. The track earned a gold certification in Germany with 25,000 copies sold the same year. In October 2001, Lasgo received the best national single award at the Belgian TMF Awards for “Something.” Their first album, “Some Things,” was released in November 2001, featuring the single “Alone,” which peaked at number 3 in Belgium and number 7 in the UK charts. This period solidified Lasgo’s position in the dance music scene.
Throughout 2002, Lasgo garnered several nominations, including International Dance Club Hit of the Year for “Something” and International New Dance Group of the Year at the Danish Dance Awards. They also received a nomination for Best Trance Act at the Dancestar World Music Awards 2002. In November 2002, Lasgo was recognized with the Smash Hits award for Best Dance Act of the Year in the UK. The group continued to achieve international accolades, securing a second award in March 2004 for Best Hi-Energy/Euro track with “Alone” at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami, Florida. The European Border Breakers award at the MIDEM 2004 music conference in Cannes further highlighted their success in reaching audiences beyond their home country. In 2008, Jelle Van Dael joined as the new vocalist following a televised search, and in 2024, Nikki Born became the new frontwoman.
