Lee Fields & The Expressions

Lee Fields began his recording career in 1969 with the single ‘Bewildered’ b/w ‘Tell Her I Love Her,’ released on the Bedford label. Throughout the 1970s, he continued to release several singles on various labels, including London Records and SoundPlus, culminating in his first full-length album, ‘Let’s Talk It Over,’ with Angle 3 in 1979. The 1990s marked Fields’ significant return to music, focusing on soul-blues within the Southern circuit. He signed with Mississippi-based Ace Records, releasing albums such as ‘Coming to Tear the Roof Down’ (1995) and ‘Dreaming Big Time’ (1996), where he also contributed on keyboards and synthesizers.

He provided additional vocals for the film Get On Up (2014) and was a musical guest on CBS This Morning in 2016. Most recently, Lee Fields & The Expressions released ‘It Rains Love’ in 2019, with its title track notably featured in the series Trigonometry (2020). Fields followed this with the critically acclaimed album ‘Sentimental Fool’ on Daptone Records in 2022. Further showcasing his enduring appeal and cross-media marketability, his song ‘Forever’ was prominently featured in a Super Bowl LVII commercial for The Farmer’s Dog in 2023, solidifying his status as a timeless and impactful voice in soul music.
