The Limeliters, an iconic American folk music group, were formed in July 1959 by Lou Gottlieb, Alex Hassilev, and Glenn Yarbrough. Their journey began when Gottlieb, after a successful stint with the Gateway Singers, suggested collaborating with Hassilev and Yarbrough after witnessing their harmonious duet at a coffee shop in Hollywood. This serendipitous meeting led to the trio’s formation and their name, inspired by the club they performed at in Aspen, Colorado.
