Max Collins, lead vocalist and primary songwriter for the alternative rock band Eve 6, achieved platinum status with the band’s self-titled debut album in 1998. Having co-founded Eve 6 in 1995, Collins spearheaded the album’s success which included the single ‘Inside Out,’ topping Modern Rock charts in 1998 and garnering crossover pop radio play, alongside the track ‘Leech.’ This initial triumph was followed by the gold-selling second album, ‘Horrorscope,’ released in 1999, which featured popular tracks such as ‘Promise,’ ‘On the Roof Again,’ and the Top 40 hit ‘Here’s to the Night.’ After the band’s initial run, Collins continued to explore his musical versatility, forming Brotherhood of Lost Dogs in mid-2004 and subsequently The Sugi Tap in June 2005. Eve 6 officially returned in October 2007, with Collins leading the reunion of the original members in July 2011, which culminated in their critically acclaimed fourth studio album, ‘Speak in Code,’ released in 2012. In 2013, Collins embarked on a solo career under the moniker Marms + The Car Deaths, successfully funding his album ‘Honey from the Ice Box’ through an online PledgeMusic campaign and releasing the digital version that same year.
He subsequently relaunched the popular column with BuzzFeed News in November 2022. Looking ahead, Collins is set to publish a book adaptation of his ‘Heart in a Blender’ column, anticipated in 2023. Further demonstrating his enduring impact and diverse talent within the music industry, he is slated to play bass for the acclaimed band Fountains of Wayne for a series of festival shows in 2025. Collins continues to be a driving force in alternative rock and a multi-faceted creative talent across music and writing.
