Mr Cheeks

Mr. Cheeks has transitioned from a renowned hip-hop group member to a solo artist and business entrepreneur. After establishing himself as a founding member of the critically acclaimed hip-hop group Lost Boyz in 1991, Mr. Cheeks quickly rose to prominence for his sincere and literate New York hip-hop style.

His highly anticipated debut solo album, John P. Kelly, released the same year, featured the international hit single ‘Lights, Camera, Action!,’ which soared to number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also showcased a notable collaboration with Stephen Marley, son of Bob Marley. He followed this success with his second album, Back Again!, in 2003, which included the popular single ‘Crush on You’ featuring Mario Winans.

Under his own imprint, he continued to release music, including the albums Ladies and Ghettomen in 2004 and Raised in 2015, maintaining his distinctive sound and connection with his fanbase. Expanding his professional scope beyond music, he has since launched Genesis Holdings, a robust holding company dedicated to supporting startups and small businesses, marking a significant foray into the entrepreneurial sector. Mr. Cheeks has also reunited with Lost Boyz for recent projects, releasing the albums Next Generation in 2019 and Legacy in 2020, demonstrating the enduring appeal of the group.
