Mr Cheeks

Terrance Cocheeks Kelly, born on March 28, 1971, in Queens, New York City, is professionally known as Mr. Cheeks. His music career began in 1991 as a member of the hip-hop group Lost Boyz, alongside Freaky Tah, Spigg Nice, and Pretty Lou. The group was known for its sincere and literate New York hip-hop style, producing singles such as “Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless” (1994), “Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz & Benz” (1995), and “Renee” (1996). The Lost Boyz gained critical acclaim with albums like “Legal Drug Money” (1996), “Love, Peace & Nappiness” (1997), and “LB IV Life” (1999).

In 2001, Mr. Cheeks embarked on a solo career, signing with Universal Records. His debut solo album, “John P. Kelly” (2001), featured the hit single “Lights, Camera, Action!”, which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also included collaborations with Stephen Marley, son of Bob Marley. He released his follow-up album, “Back Again!”, in 2003, featuring the single “Crush on You” with Mario Winans. During this period, he was also featured on Lil’ Kim’s 2003 single “The Jump Off,” which reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Following his separation from Universal in Fall 2003, Mr. Cheeks established his own label, Diane’s Boyz. He has continued to release music independently, including albums “Ladies and Ghettomen” (2004) and “Raised” (2015). In recent years, he has launched “Genesis Holdings,” a holding company designed to support startups and small businesses, marking a significant step into the entrepreneurial sector.
