Dennis Nana Dwamena, widely recognized as KiDi, was born on August 18, 1993, in Accra, Ghana. His early life involved pursuing an education in Economics and Information Studies at the University of Ghana. During his university years, KiDi nurtured his musical talent by performing at the Moonlight Café, a platform dedicated to showcasing emerging artists. His initial foray into the music industry included recording covers of popular songs, laying the groundwork for his eventual breakthrough.
In 2015, KiDi’s career trajectory changed when he won the MTN Hitmaker competition. This victory led to him signing with Lynx Entertainment, a pivotal moment that launched his professional music career. He quickly gained prominence in 2017 with the release of “Say You Love Me,” a song he not only composed but also arranged and produced. That same year, he released “Odo,” which swiftly became a chart-topper. The remix of “Odo” featuring Nigerian artists Davido and Mayorkun in December 2017 further solidified his rising star status, followed by “Adiepena” in April 2018. Over the years, KiDi has proven to be a prolific artist, releasing two studio albums and two EPs, consistently delivering chart-topping hits and collaborating with various artists.
KiDi has graced numerous stages, including the Rapperholic Concert (2017), Ghana Music Honors (2017), December to Remember (2017), and the S Concert (2017). He also performed at the 61st Ghana Independence Celebration Show in March 2018 at the Indigo O2 in London, sharing the stage with acclaimed African artists such as Sarkodie, Samini, Shatta Wale, WizKid, and Tiwa Savage. His contributions extend beyond performing, as he has produced tracks for other artists, co-produced with Richie Mensah, and written for MzVee and Adina. KiDi’s album “The Golden Boy” won the “Album of the Year Award” at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, and his song “Touch It” became the most streamed Ghanaian song on Spotify, showcasing his significant impact on contemporary African music. He is a recognized figure in Ghana’s music scene, continually pushing the boundaries of Afrobeats and Highlife.
