Mt. Joy is an American five-piece indie rock band that has made significant strides in the music industry since its formation in 2016. Based in Los Angeles but with roots in Philadelphia, the band consists of Matt Quinn (vocals, guitar), Sam Cooper (guitar), Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), Jackie Miclau (keyboards), and Michael Byrnes (bass). Their debut single, “Astrovan,” recorded in Los Angeles, quickly gained traction, leading to the addition of Eliopoulos and Miclau to the lineup as they began to perform at major festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza.
In 2017, Mt. Joy signed with Dualtone Records, marking a pivotal moment in their career. They released a trio of successful singles, including “Silver Lining,” which reached the top of the Billboard Triple A charts. The band’s self-titled debut album, released on March 2, 2018, showcased their unique sound and garnered over 200 million streams on Spotify, solidifying their presence in the indie music scene.
The band’s touring efforts have been extensive, including headlining tours across North America and Europe, as well as supporting acts like The Lumineers. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, they released their second studio album, “Rearrange Us,” on June 5, 2020, which debuted on multiple Billboard charts and featured socially conscious themes, with profits directed to Campaign Zero.
Continuing their momentum, Mt. Joy released their third album, “Orange Blood,” on June 17, 2022, and embarked on a successful headlining tour. The band remains committed to social causes, serving as ambassadors for voter registration and contributing to charity projects. With a growing fanbase and a distinctive sound, Mt. Joy is poised for continued success in the music industry.
