About

Brittany Collins is an Americana singer-songwriter from the Pacific Northwest, specifically the Skagit Valley, Washington. She has been involved with music for most of her life, initially performing live in her twenties. Her early musical influences included punk and grunge, evolving later to incorporate roots music genres like folk, blues, and old-school country. This shift in interest was due to her identification with how these genres addressed themes such as heartbreak, poverty, and oppression.

Collins embarked on her career as a solo artist approximately four years prior to the pandemic. During the pandemic, she intensified her focus on songwriting, a period that led to the creation of her debut full-length album, “Things I Tell My Therapist.” Released on September 2, 2022, this album delves into topics like self-acceptance, trauma recovery, love, and loss. The album featured tracks such as ‘The Apple,’ ‘The Journey,’ and ‘Belvedere Hotel,’ with the latter track stemming from an interest in true crime stories and local history.

Her process for recording “Things I Tell My Therapist” involved live tracking at MARS, a studio in Bothell, Washington. This approach allowed her and her band to maximize efficiency within a tight budget, completing 90% of the recording within three days. Collins consistently maintains a connection to her Pacific Northwest roots, drawing inspiration from the mountainous landscape and choosing to live outside major cities for balance, despite extensive travel for her music.
