Nate Bergman

Nate Bergman built his name as singer and guitarist of Lionize, the rock band formed in 2004 in Montgomery County, Maryland. Fusing reggae rock with hard rock, jazz, heavy metal, and punk, the band earned a reputation for a sound one reviewer memorably described as ‘kind of like if the guys in Deep Purple were Rastafarians wrapped in trippy sci-fi imagery.’ Alongside keyboardist Chris Brooks and bassist Henry Upton, with drummers LaMel Randolph and Chase Lapp passing through the ranks, Bergman fronted the group through nearly two decades of recording and touring.

A defining thread of that run was Lionize’s long-standing connection with fellow Maryland rock institution Clutch, whose guitarist Tim Sult became a frequent collaborator both on stage and in the studio. That regional kinship helped anchor the band within a respected East Coast rock circuit while Bergman sharpened a voice and songwriting style built on soulful delivery and heavy, groove-driven arrangements.

Stepping out as a solo artist, Bergman released ‘Metaphysical Change’ in 2022, a record that drew guest contributions from Swedish keyboardist Per Wiberg, known for his work across the stoner and doom rock world. In 2024 he hit the road as support on the Amigo The Devil tour, discussing his path into music and his creative process in interviews with outlets like The Razor’s Edge, and appeared in conversation with Bring the Noise UK around his booking for the UK’s 2000trees Festival.

Today, Bergman continues to move between his rock roots and a solo career that leans on songcraft honed over twenty years, making him a versatile booking for festivals, clubs, and curated live events.
