Nell Mescal

Nell Mescal was born on April 28, 2003, in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. She is the younger sister of actor Paul Mescal. Mescal began developing her music skills at 14 while recovering from back surgery for scoliosis. At 17, she spent three months in Brighton, where her music career started. In October 2021, she left school to pursue music full-time in London.

Mescal released her debut single “Crash” in 2020, followed by “Deja Vu,” “Swingsets,” and “Missing You.” Her song “Missing You” was featured in the Brown Thomas Christmas Window film in 2020. In 2021, she performed professionally for the first time at Shoreditch House, supporting Phoebe Bridgers. The year 2022 saw the release of her single “Graduating,” which she wrote about choosing music over finishing school, and she opened for Phoebe Green’s UK tour. Her first headline show took place at the Social in Fitzrovia, and she performed at Victoria Park’s All Points East festival.

In 2023, Mescal released “Homesick,” making her television debut on RTÉ One’s “The Late Late Show.” She announced a UK and Ireland headline tour and performed at various festivals, including The Great Escape Festival, BST Hyde Park, Dot to Dot Festival, Latitude Festival, Boardmasters Festival, Electric Picnic, Kendal Calling, and Live at Leeds. She also supported Birdy’s Dublin show. In January 2024, she released “Killing Time” and announced her debut EP, “Can I Miss it for a Minute?,” released in May 2024 via LAB Records. In 2025, Mescal signed with Atlantic Records and released the demo track “Thin.”
