Niki, born Nicole Zefanya, is an Indonesian singer-songwriter who has gained global recognition for her musicianship and songwriting, with major milestones including a Gold certification by the RIAA and being listed on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia. After achieving an early career milestone as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s The Red Tour in Jakarta in 2014, Niki relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2017 to pursue music studies at Lipscomb University. During this period, she embarked on her professional recording career, releasing her initial singles, ‘I Like U’ and ‘See U Never,’ under the moniker Niki through the American record label 88rising. Her career quickly progressed in 2018 with her appearance on the 88rising collaborative album Head in the Clouds, where she contributed five songs to the project.
In 2019, Niki released the successful single ‘Lowkey,’ which led to her second EP, wanna take this downtown? She continued her significant contributions to 88rising, appearing on Head in the Clouds II that same year, followed by the live acoustic EP, Niki Acoustic Sessions: Head in the Clouds II. Niki released her highly anticipated debut full-length studio album, Moonchild, on September 10, 2020, featuring singles ‘Switchblade,’ ‘Selene,’ and ‘Lose.’ NME recognized Moonchild as one of the best Asian albums of the year. That same year, she was named a brand ambassador for Indonesian e-commerce platform Blibli and participated in 88rising’s ‘Asia Rising Forever’ virtual concert.
In 2023, Niki graced the cover of Vogue Singapore’s ‘Pop’ issue and released the live album Niki: Live at The Wiltern, showcasing her powerful stage presence.
