Olly Sholotan was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and spent his early childhood in Nigeria before moving to Houston, Texas, at the age of ten. His foundational training in the performing arts began at the Kinder High School for Performing and Visual Arts, where he specialized in Theater and graduated in 2015. During his time there, Sholotan was recognized as a finalist by the National YoungArts Foundation. He furthered his education at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, completing a Musical Theater Major program and graduating in 2019. Sholotan’s professional career includes notable acting roles such as Lewis Washington in the 2020 Venice International Film Festival selection “Run Hide Fight.” He also appeared as Benji Betts in the 2022 film “Gigi & Nate,” working alongside actors including Marcia Gay Harden, Josephine Langford, Diane Ladd, and Jim Belushi. His most prominent role to date is Carlton Banks in Peacock’s “Bel-Air,” the dramatic reimagining of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” a role he has held from 2022 to the present, spanning over 30 episodes. In 2023, he also took on the role of Trevor in a single episode of the TV series “Cruel Summer.” Beyond acting, Sholotan has expanded his creative endeavors into music, releasing his own work through his independent record label, Lamintin Records.
