Orion Sun

Tiffany Maureen Majette, professionally known as Orion Sun, was born in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. She was raised in a conservative Christian home and found inspiration in the music of Bethany Baptist Church from an early age. Majette began songwriting during her time at Lenape High School and was encouraged by her choir teacher to share her music with a wider audience. Despite being accepted into Berklee College of Music, she was unable to attend due to financial constraints. Her initial employment was as a camp counselor for the YMCA, where she directed music extracurricular activities.

Majette relocated to Philadelphia, where she became involved with an underground music collective called The Forest. The collective later disbanded following the death of one of its members. Her public musical career began in 2013 with the release of “Voicemail” on YouTube. In 2017, she released the mixtape “A Collection of Fleeting Moments and Daydreams.” This was followed by the singles “S T R E T C H” and “Nirvanaaa” in 2018. Her debut LP, “Hold Space for Me,” was released in 2020 through Mom + Pop Music, receiving a review from Pitchfork critic Dani Blum, who described the album as “stark [and] lightly poetic.

In 2020, Majette experienced an injury from police during a racial justice protest in her hometown. This experience influenced her to write the song “Mama’s Baby.” She successfully raised over $18,000 from the song’s sales on Bandcamp, donating the proceeds to Breonna Taylor’s GoFundMe and the Loveland Foundation. Her debut EP, “Getaway,” was released in 2022, featuring collaborations with producers and writers such as Rostam Batmanglij, Nascent, Rodaidh McDonald, and Guapdad 4000. In 2023, she performed as an opening act for Daniel Caesar during his Superpowers World Tour. Orion Sun released the singles “Already Gone” and “Mary Jane” in 2024. Her self-titled LP, “Orion,” was released on September 20, 2024, followed by “The Rising Sun Tour.”
