Jared Pellerin, known professionally as Pell, was born on May 29, 1992, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His early life was significantly impacted by Hurricane Katrina, which led his family to relocate to Jackson, Mississippi. In this new environment, Pell discovered his passion for music, using a beat machine as a way to connect with others and explore his creativity. Influenced by his brother, former NFL player Micah Pellerin, and his own experimentation, he began rapping and performing during his high school years at St. Joseph Catholic School in Madison, Mississippi, and continued his musical journey into Mississippi State University.
Pell’s career gained significant momentum in 2014 with the release of his first project, “Floating While Dreaming.” This mixtape premiered via Complex Magazine and earned acclaim as a top independent release of the year, accumulating over 11 million streams by February 2016. Building on this success, his track “Eleven:11” was remixed by G-Eazy and released as “Got It Like That (Eleven:11 Remix)” on May 20, 2015, achieving over 7 million plays on Spotify. In 2015, Pell released his first full-length LP, “LIMBO,” in partnership with Dave Sitek’s Federal Prism label, which led to his first headlining tour.
Throughout his career, Pell has demonstrated a commitment to artistic evolution and collaboration. He continued to release projects such as the “girasoul” EP in 2017, showcasing his experimental approach to sound. In 2019, he released the LP “Gravity” and “glbl wrmng, vol. 1” with the New Orleans-centric collective Glbl Wrmng, which he co-founded with music professional Nate “Suave” Cameron.
