Pepper is a dynamic three-piece reggae rock band that originated in Hawaii and is now based in San Diego. The band, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Kaleo Wassman, vocalist/bassist Bret Bollinger, and drummer Yesod Williams, has made significant strides in the music industry since their formation in 1996. Their unique blend of reggae, rock, and pop has garnered them a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim, leading to the release of eight studio albums and two live albums.
The band’s journey began with their debut album, “Give’n It,” released in 2000 under Volcom Entertainment, which showcased their innovative sound and earned them a spot on the 2001 Vans Warped Tour. Their sophomore album, “Kona Town,” released in 2002, peaked at #2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, solidifying their presence in the reggae scene. Pepper continued to build on this success with subsequent albums, including “In With the Old” and “No Shame,” which further expanded their musical repertoire and audience reach.
In 2008, Pepper launched their own label, LAW Records, and released “Pink Crustaceans and Good Vibrations,” demonstrating their entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to artistic independence. Their 2019 album, “Local Motion,” peaked at #1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, featuring collaborations with top reggae artists, showcasing their ability to evolve while staying true to their roots.
Beyond music, Pepper has ventured into winemaking, creating award-winning wines inspired by their albums, and collaborated with clothing brand Volcom to launch a unique clothing line. With their innovative spirit and dedication to their craft, Pepper continues to be a prominent force in the reggae rock genre.
