Pierce The Veil, an American rock band, was established in San Diego, California, in 2006 by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes. The formation followed the disbandment of their previous project, Before Today, and they were supported by Equal Vision Records in their initial endeavors. The brothers independently wrote and recorded their debut album, “A Flair for the Dramatic,” released on June 26, 2007. Shortly thereafter, Tony Perry joined as lead guitarist and Jaime Preciado took on bass duties, solidifying the band’s core lineup. Their early years were marked by extensive touring, supporting notable bands and participating in festivals such as the Vans Warped Tour, which helped them cultivate a dedicated fanbase. This period showcased their fusion of emo, screamo, and progressive rock elements, setting the foundation for their distinct musical identity.
In 2010, Pierce The Veil released their second album, “Selfish Machines,” which topped the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. This album deepened their sound, incorporating punk influences and earning comparisons to established acts. The band continued a rigorous touring schedule, including international dates and appearances at major festivals. A significant turning point occurred in 2011 when they signed with Fearless Records. This partnership led to the release of their critically acclaimed third album, “Collide with the Sky,” in 2012. Featuring the hit single “King for a Day,” the album debuted impressively at No. 12 on the US Billboard 200. “Collide with the Sky” further integrated progressive rock elements and was celebrated in the music press, earning multiple accolades in Alternative Press’s reader’s poll, including ‘Best Live Band of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’.
The band’s career progression continued with the release of “Misadventures” in 2016, which leaned towards pop and pop-punk genres, and “The Jaws of Life” in 2023. Over the years, Pierce The Veil has consistently toured globally and collaborated with various artists, solidifying their presence in the rock music landscape. Their musical style, often dubbed “mexicore” due to the incorporation of Spanish flair, blends heavy music with melodic sensibility. Despite a hiatus and changes in its lineup, the band has maintained its commitment to creating and performing, with recent tours and new music demonstrating their ongoing relevance and appeal.
