About

Alecia Beth Moore, known professionally as Pink, was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, on September 8, 1979. From an early age, she aspired to be a singer, drawing inspiration from artists such as Madonna and Janis Joplin. Pink cultivated her early career by performing in Philadelphia clubs and singing backup for local groups. At 15, she joined the R&B girl group Choice, which signed with LaFace Records in 1995. Although the group disbanded without releasing a major album, their song “Key to My Heart” appeared on the soundtrack for the 1996 film “Kazaam.” This early experience provided Pink with foundational insights into the music industry.

In spring 2000, Pink launched her solo career with the debut album “Can’t Take Me Home.” This album achieved multi-platinum status by year’s end and featured the Top 10 hit “There You Go.” The following year, she gained wider recognition for her collaboration on “Lady Marmalade” for the “Moulin Rouge!” soundtrack, a track that topped 13 international charts and earned her a Grammy Award. Seeking more creative control and a shift in musical direction, Pink transitioned to a pop rock sound with her second album, “Missundaztood” (2001). This album sold over 13 million copies worldwide and included hit singles like “Get the Party Started,” establishing her as a significant artist in pop music.

Over the course of her career, Pink has released nine studio albums, accumulating over 135 million records sold worldwide. Her tours, such as the “I’m Not Dead Tour” and “Beautiful Trauma World Tour,” have garnered significant success, particularly in Australia, where she set records for concert attendance. She has received numerous accolades, including three Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. In 2013, Billboard named her Woman of the Year, and in 2019, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, recognizing her enduring impact on global music and popular culture.
