Victoria Beverley Walker, known professionally as PinkPantheress, was born on April 19, 2001, in Bath, Somerset, England. She was raised in Kent, where her family moved when she was five years old. Her musical journey began with piano lessons as a child, and at age 14, she became the lead singer of a rock band, covering songs by artists such as My Chemical Romance and Paramore. This early exposure to various genres and performance laid the foundation for her eclectic sound.
PinkPantheress gained significant traction in her career while attending university in London in 2021. She started producing songs using GarageBand, and uploading them to SoundCloud and TikTok. Her unique style, characterized by diaristic lyrics and short, sample-driven tracks, quickly resonated with a wide audience. Songs like “Break It Off” and “Pain” went viral on TikTok, leading to her signing with Parlophone and Elektra Records. Her debut mixtape, “To Hell with It,” released later that year, debuted at number 20 on the UK Albums Chart. In 2022, she reinforced her rising status by winning the BBC Sound of 2022 poll, following the success of singles “Just for Me” and “Pain,” which both entered the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart.
Her career continued to ascend with her 2022 single “Boy’s a Liar,” which reached number two in the UK. The remix, “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2,” with American rapper Ice Spice, peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her first entry on the chart and achieving RIAA platinum certification. Her debut studio album, “Heaven Knows,” released in 2023, featured the UK top-20 song “Nice to Meet You.” She also contributed “Angel” to the soundtrack of the 2023 film “Barbie.” In 2024, PinkPantheress was honored as Producer of the Year by Billboard Women in Music.
