The band was inspired to create music after attending a live performance by Rozwell Kid, which significantly influenced Gregory’s early songwriting. Their initial release was the extended play “Skip Cutscenes! Blow Loud!” in 2014 through Wallflower Records. They followed this with the EP “Adult Summers” in 2015 via Broken World Media, which was re-released in 2017 by Counter Intuitive Records. In 2016, Prince Daddy & The Hyena released their debut full-length album, “I Thought You Didn’t Even Like Leaving,” also through Broken World Media.

During this period, the band faced several challenges, including a traffic accident that temporarily disabled its members and a break-in that resulted in the loss of equipment valued at $7,500. Despite these setbacks, they continued to perform and create music, demonstrating resilience.
