About

Queensrÿche formed in 1980 in Bellevue, Washington, initially under the names Cross+Fire and then the Mob. The original lineup included guitarists Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo, drummer Scott Rockenfield, and bassist Eddie Jackson. Geoff Tate joined as lead vocalist in 1982. The band self-released their eponymous EP in 1982, which garnered international attention and led to a record deal with EMI Records. Their early success paved the way for a 15-year contract that encompassed seven albums, establishing their presence in the burgeoning progressive metal scene.

Throughout the 1980s, Queensrÿche’s popularity grew with albums such as ‘The Warning’ (1984) and ‘Rage for Order’ (1986). A significant milestone arrived with ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ (1988), a narrative concept album that achieved critical and commercial success, earning gold status and producing charting singles like “Eyes of a Stranger.” This was followed by ‘Empire’ (1990), which reached the height of their commercial success, selling over three million copies in the U.S. and featuring the Top 10 single “Silent Lucidity,” which earned multiple Grammy and MTV Video Music Award nominations. The band toured extensively, sharing stages with acts like Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Judas Priest, and Def Leppard.

In recent years, Queensrÿche has continued to release new music and tour. After some lineup changes and a legal resolution allowing the current members to retain the band name, they released ‘Queensrÿche’ (2013), ‘Condition Hüman’ (2015), ‘The Verdict’ (2019), and ‘Digital Noise Alliance’ (2022). The band actively engages with fans, demonstrated by their 2014 PledgeMusic campaign for ‘Condition Hüman,’ which allowed fans to directly contribute to the album’s production. Their commitment to live performances has remained consistent, delivering high-energy shows that showcase their blend of veteran experience and renewed creative drive.
