Sinéad Monica Harnett was born on October 12, 1989, in London, England, to a Thai mother and an Irish father. She spent her early years in Finchley, north London, and attended Holly Park Primary School. Her artistic development continued with weekend dance classes at the Royal Ballet School and acting studies at Arts University College Bournemouth, where she appeared in student theatrical productions. Her musical journey began to gain traction in 2011 when grime artist Wiley discovered her through a video he saw of her singing at a college talent show. He extended an invitation for her to feature on “Walk Away,” a track from his album *Chill Out Zone*.
This early collaboration opened doors for Harnett, leading to significant features in the electronic music scene. In 2012, she provided vocals for the Disclosure track “Boiling” on their EP *The Face* and contributed songwriting and guest vocals to Rudimental’s 2013 debut album, *Home*. The same year marked the release of her debut single, “Got Me,” via Black Butter Records. Her career progressed with her first EP, *N.O.W.*, released in August 2014 through 333 Records, which included tracks like “No Other Way” and “Paradise” that gained critical attention. By late 2014, she was working on her debut album with producer Chris Loco for Virgin EMI Records and was recognized as an MTV UK Brand New for 2015 nominee.
Harnett continued to release music, including singles “She Ain’t Me” (2015) and “Do It Anyway” (2015), and featured on Nick Brewer’s 2016 single “Never Say Never?”. Her self-titled EP, *Sinead Harnett*, released in August 2016 through Rinse FM, featured collaborations with producers like GRADES, JD. Reid, Kaytranada, and Snakehips. Her discography further expanded with studio albums such as *Lessons in Love* (2019), *Ready Is Always Too Late* (2021), and *Boundaries* (2024), demonstrating her consistent output and growth in the R&B and soul genres. Her distinct vocal style and collaborative work have established her presence in contemporary music.
