Sir Sly is an American indie pop band formed in Orange County, California. The band consists of vocalist Landon Jacobs, alongside instrumentalists Jason Suwito and Hayden Coplen. The trio established a following by initially releasing music anonymously, eventually revealing their identities and topping The Hype Machine chart. Their debut single, “Ghost,” was released on March 4, 2013, followed by “Gold” on May 21, 2013, both on National Anthem and Neon Gold labels. “Gold” achieved notable success, reaching No. 27 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and No. 45 on the Rock Airplay chart. The song was also featured in the video game MLB 14: The Show and gained international recognition when used in the accolade trailer for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Sir Sly’s debut album, “You Haunt Me,” was released on September 16, 2014. The album’s title track, “You Haunt Me,” peaked at number 3 on Sirius XM’s Alt 18 countdown on Alt Nation in October 2014. In 2016, the band released the standalone single “Expectations.” Their 2017 single “High” became a significant success, holding the number two spot on Sirius XM’s Alt 18 Countdown for three weeks and remaining on the countdown for 19 weeks. “High” was prominently featured in television shows such as “13 Reasons Why,” “Riverdale,” and “Lucifer,” as well as the film “Happy Death Day.” The song also served as the theme for NBC’s Sunday Night Football broadcasts in both 2017 and 2018. In 2017, they released their second album, “Don’t You Worry, Honey,” followed by “The Rise & Fall of Loverboy” in 2021.
Beyond Sir Sly’s main projects, members have also engaged in other musical endeavors. In October 2015, Jason Suwito, under his alter ego Raeko, collaborated with Maya Tuttle of The Colourist on the song “Back 2 U.” Following a 2018 tour with Joywave, Suwito formed the group Best Frenz with Joywave musician Daniel Armbruster, releasing the EP “30% Off” in 2021 and the LP “The Mall” in 2023. These projects demonstrate the band members’ continued creative output and collaborative spirit within the music industry.
