Soccer Mommy

Sophia Regina Allison, born on May 27, 1997, in Zürich, Switzerland, later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where she spent her formative years. Her passion for music began early, picking up the guitar at age six and later attending the Nashville School of the Arts, specializing in guitar and participating in the school’s swing band. This early immersion in music established a foundation for her future career. In 2015, while preparing for college, Allison started recording and uploading her songs to Bandcamp under the moniker Soccer Mommy. She pursued her education at New York University, studying music business and English at the Steinhardt School. During her time in college, she performed her first official Soccer Mommy show at Silent Barn in Bushwick, Brooklyn, which led to a recording contract with Fat Possum. This turning point prompted her to leave college after two years in 2017 to focus entirely on her music career.

Since then, Soccer Mommy has released four studio albums, showcasing a consistent evolution in her sound and songwriting. Her debut album, “Clean,” was released on March 2, 2018, followed by “Color Theory” in 2020 through Loma Vista Recordings and Concord. “Sometimes, Forever” was released in 2022, also under Loma Vista, further solidifying her presence in the indie rock scene. Her latest album, “Evergreen,” was released on October 25, 2024. Allison has also gained significant touring experience, opening for prominent artists such as Stephen Malkmus, Mitski, Kacey Musgraves, Jay Som, Slowdive, Frankie Cosmos, Liz Phair, Phoebe Bridgers, Paramore, Foster the People, Vampire Weekend, and Wilco. Her musical style, often described as a blend of ’90s alt-rock and modern indie pop with confessional lyrics, has earned her critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. She received a Libera Award for Creative Packaging for “Color Theory” in 2021 and was nominated for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in 2022. She also received a Libera Award nomination for Best Rock Record for “Sometimes, Forever” in 2023.
