Son Volt is a prominent American rock band that emerged in 1994, founded by Jay Farrar following the breakup of the influential alternative country group Uncle Tupelo. With a lineup that includes Farrar on vocals and guitar, Andrew DuPlantis on bass, John Horton on guitar, Mark Patterson on drums, and Mark Spencer on keyboards and steel guitar, Son Volt has carved a niche in the alternative rock and Americana music scenes. Their debut album, “Trace,” released in 1995, received critical acclaim and established the band as a key player in the alt-country movement, with the hit single “Windfall” resonating deeply within the genre.
