Styx has maintained a consistent presence in rock music for decades, known for their blend of hard rock, progressive rock, and power ballads, resulting in significant album sales and successful tours. After releasing their second album, Styx II, in 1973, Styx achieved national recognition with the sleeper hit ‘Lady,’ which peaked at No. 6 in the US and went gold in 1975. The band’s early career saw them release four albums with Wooden Nickel Records, cultivating a dedicated fanbase before signing with A&M Records in 1975.
Styx’s enduring impact was recognized with their induction into the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum Hall of Fame in 2022. Terry Gowan debuted as touring bass player in 2024 and was announced as an official member later that year. Styx has also announced the co-headlining ‘Brotherhood of Rock Tour’ with The Kevin Cronin Band for 2024 and their 18th studio album, Circling from Above, for release in 2025.
