Ahmad Faizal bin Mohd Tahir, known professionally as Faizal Tahir, was born as the second of seven children. His career in music began as a member of the nasyid group Mirwana, showcasing his early talents as a vocalist. He later pursued higher education, attending UiTM Shah Alam from 2000 to 2003, where he earned a Diploma in Communication & Media Studies. This educational background provided him with a foundation in media, which proved beneficial in his later professional endeavors. Faizal Tahir transitioned from group singing to a solo career, gaining significant public attention through the reality television competition “One in a Million.”
During his participation in “One in a Million,” Faizal Tahir performed a variety of songs, demonstrating his vocal range and stage presence. Notable performances included “Chariot” and “I Don’t Wanna Be” by Gavin DeGraw, “With A Little Help From My Friends” by Joe Cocker, and “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet. He progressed through various stages of the competition, eventually reaching the grand finale where he debuted his original composition, “Mahakarya Cinta,” composed by Audi Mok. He finished as the runner-up in the competition in 2007, marking a pivotal moment in his career. Following his success on “One in a Million,” Faizal Tahir released a single titled “Kasih Tercipta,” which was featured as part of the soundtrack for the local film “Waris Jari Hantu.” He also became the sole Malaysian spokesperson for DC Superheroes clothing, a role that aligned with his public persona of frequently wearing Superman logo T-shirts.
Faizal Tahir’s career advancements extended to songwriting and music production. He established his own mini studio, Home Suite Studio, located in Ukay Perdana, Ampang, where he contributes to the creation of his music. Beyond his solo musical pursuits, he has founded Faithful Music, and later expanded his entrepreneurial efforts with iamFaithmen, a social enterprise launched in 2016. His discography includes albums such as “Aku.Muzik.Kamu” (2007), “Adrenalin” (2009), “Faizal Tahir” (2013), “Anatomi” (2016), and “Rojak” (2019). His work has been recognized through various releases and collaborations, including “The Best Of One In A Million – Top 3” (2007) and the compilation album “I’ll Always Be Here If That’s What You Want, The Best Of Faizal Tahir” (2014). He also recorded “Gemuruh,” the theme song for My Starz LG.
