Taio Cruz is a British singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer known for his chart-topping pop and R&B hits, establishing himself as a significant figure in both performance and music creation. After co-writing Will Young’s 2004 single ‘Your Game,’ which earned him a Brit Award in 2005, Taio Cruz went on to establish his own label, Rokstarr Music London. Through his label, Cruz released his debut single ‘I Just Wanna Know’ in 2006, which charted at number 29 in the UK. He then secured a split single deal with Universal Music Group, Republic Records, and Island Records for his debut album, ‘Departure,’ released in March 2008.
Cruz entirely wrote, arranged, and produced the album, which peaked at number 17 on the UK charts and achieved Gold certification from the BPI. His second album, ‘Rokstarr,’ released in 2009, marked his international breakthrough. The lead single ‘Break Your Heart’ not only topped the UK singles chart but also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, solidifying his global presence. Another major hit from ‘Rokstarr,’ ‘Dynamite,’ achieved significant worldwide success, peaking at number two on the U.S.
Cruz showcased his versatility and broad appeal by performing at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics. In 2013, he ventured into technology, launching the Kewe social media application.
