Taio Cruz

Taio Cruz is an award-winning songwriter, musician and record producer known for releasing a series of instantly recognisable hit singles, including debut track ‘Break Your Heart’ which topped both the UK and US charts, and the irresistibly catchy ‘Dynamite’, a track that has dominated airwaves the world over. A prolific songwriter, Cruz has written smash-hit singles for Jennifer Lopez (‘I’m Into You’) and David Guetta (‘Without You’), even winning a Brit Award for Best British Single after writing ‘Your Game’ for Will Young. He has collaborated with some of the biggest stars in the music industry, including Kylie Minogue on ‘Higher’, ‘Hangover’ with Flo Rida and top-ten mega-hit ‘Shine a Light’ with McFly.

Cruz began writing and performing music when he was still at school, earning a publishing deal with Def Jam at only 17 years old. He scored his first UK top 30 hit with the debut single ‘I Just Wanna Know’ in 2006, but it was the infectious ‘Break Your Heart’ (the first track from his second album Rokstarr) that would propel Cruz to worldwide stardom, reaching the No 1 spot on both sides of the Atlantic. The track set the record for the largest jump on the Billboard Hot 100 by leaping from number 53 to the top spot in a single week, earning Cruz his first Brit award nomination for Best UK Single. The equally catchy, radio-friendly ‘Dynamite’ became a global phenomenon, amassing over 181 million views on YouTube, topping the charts in over half a dozen countries and winning three Billboard Awards. Since then, Cruz’s career has been on an unstoppable rise, as he continues to write, perform and produce music that has widespread appeal and invariably finds commercial success.
