Unwound

Unwound solidified their influential post-hardcore sound with the release of their debut album, ‘Fake Train,’ in 1993. This landmark record marked the first non-spoken word release for the esteemed Kill Rock Stars label, establishing the band’s distinctive dissonant and angular style. Formed in 1988 with Justin Trosper (vocals-guitar) and Vern Rumsey (bass), the group adopted the name Unwound in 1992, solidifying their classic trio lineup with Sara Lund on drums in July of that year. Throughout the early 1990s, the band cultivated a dedicated following through relentless touring and a strong DIY ethos, rapidly garnering attention for their uncompromising artistic vision.

The reunited Unwound commenced their touring schedule in 2023, performing their first reunion concert to widespread acclaim. The band also headlined at major international events, including a prominent appearance at the Primavera Sound festival in 2023. Continuing to engage with both their extensive catalog and new interpretations of their work, Unwound actively tours nationally and internationally. Their ongoing performances reinforce their unique contribution to underground music, maintaining their influential position and captivating audiences across the globe.
