Velvet Revolver

Velvet Revolver was an American hard rock supergroup that achieved commercial success with their debut album, ‘Contraband’, winning a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. After winning a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for their debut album ‘Contraband’, Velvet Revolver rapidly cemented their status as a hard rock supergroup. The ensemble coalesced in 2002, uniting former Guns N’ Roses members Slash (lead guitar), Duff McKagan (bass, backing vocals), and Matt Sorum (drums, backing vocals) with Dave Kushner (rhythm guitar) from Wasted Youth and Scott Weiland (lead vocalist) from Stone Temple Pilots. Their early work included contributing the tracks ‘Set Me Free’ and ‘Money’ to film soundtracks, with ‘Set Me Free’ notably receiving radio play in 2003 without extensive promotion.

The core members explored various projects before a brief, one-off reunion with Weiland occurred in January 2012 for a benefit concert, marking their final performance together. Tragically, Scott Weiland passed away in December 2015. In 2016, Slash and Duff McKagan subsequently rejoined Guns N’ Roses, resuming their iconic roles. Velvet Revolver’s legacy remains defined by their two critically and commercially successful albums, ‘Contraband’ and ‘Libertad’, and their Grammy-winning impact on hard rock during the mid-2000s.
