Via Vallen

Maulidia Octavia, known professionally as Via Vallen, was born on October 1, 1991, in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. She began her singing career at the age of 15, initially preferring pop-rock music. Her father, a dangdut musician, guided her toward dangdut, a genre she embraced, eventually becoming known as the “Pop Queen Koplo” due to her incorporation of pop elements into dangdut koplo style. Via’s breakthrough came with her debut single “Selingkuh” in early 2015, followed by the highly popular song “Sayang” in 2017, which garnered over 100 million views on YouTube, making it one of the most-viewed Indonesian music videos of that year.

Via Vallen’s career progression saw her achieve notable milestones, including performing the official theme song “Meraih Bintang” for the 2018 Asian Games. This performance further cemented her status as a prominent artist in Indonesia. She has received multiple awards, such as the 2017 SCTV Music Awards for Most Popular Dangdut Singer and the Indonesian Dangdut Awards for Most Popular Female Dangdut Singer. Her albums, like “Sayang” (2018), have achieved significant sales, earning platinum certification from ASIRI. Via has also expanded her career into acting, appearing in films and television shows, and serving as a judge and mentor on music-related programs.

Throughout her career, Via Vallen has collaborated with various renowned artists and performed at significant events, including the International Indie Music Festival. She has gained a dedicated fanbase known as Vyanisty and has been recognized internationally, winning an International Professional Music Award (BraVo Awards) in Russia in 2019. Her continued success has established her as one of Indonesia’s most recognized musical figures, influencing the contemporary dangdut scene.
