Niles Hollowell-Dhar, born on October 6, 1988, in Berkeley, California, has established a notable career in music. He initially gained recognition as one half of the hip-hop/electro duo The Cataracs, alongside David Singer-Vine. The duo achieved success with tracks such as “Like a G6” with Far East Movement and “Bass Down Low” with DEV. They also co-produced several other songs, including one for Selena Gomez’s debut album “Stars Dance.” After David Singer-Vine’s departure in 2012, Hollowell-Dhar continued under The Cataracs name until 2014.
In 2014, Hollowell-Dhar transitioned to electro house music under the alias KSHMR. His new identity quickly led to chart success on Beatport. Before officially launching as KSHMR, he contributed to tracks like ‘Tsunami’ by DVBBS and Borgeous, and ‘Stampede’ by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, DVBBS, and Borgeous. His debut single “Megalodon” was released through Spinnin’ Records on February 24, 2014. A collaboration with R3hab, “Karate,” charted in SNEP in March 2015. His single “Burn,” a collaboration with DallasK, reached number one on Beatport, released across Revealed Recordings, Spinnin’ Records, and Ultra Records.
KSHMR’s identity was publicly revealed at Ultra Music Festival 2015 by Tiësto. His collaboration with Tiësto and Vassy on the song “Secrets” achieved significant success, reaching the top of the Beatport Chart and charting on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. In June 2015, he launched a remix contest for his track “Jammu” with Spinnin’ Records. He released his debut sound pack exclusively with Splice Sounds in July 2015. KSHMR held his first live performance at the Fonda Theater, Los Angeles, on September 19, 2015. He launched his sublabel, Dharma Worldwide, under Spinnin’ Records in July 2017, focusing on cultivating new talent and releasing music with cultural influences.
