Anthony Ebuka Victor, known as Victony, was born on January 5, 2001, in Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria. He began his music career in 2016 as a rapper on SoundCloud, releasing freestyles and mixes. In August 2020, Victony released his debut studio album, “Saturn,” which was preceded by his first single, “Ina Benz,” in 2018. His early work also involved covers of international hit songs and a mixtape titled “The Outlaw King,” which earned him the moniker “The Outlaw King.” These formative years established his foundation in the music industry, showcasing his versatility across rap, R&B, trap music, and Afropop.
A significant career turning point for Victony occurred in 2021 following a car crash. His song “Pray,” released after the accident, gained traction. Later that year, he achieved a major breakthrough with the song “Holy Father,” a collaboration with Mayorkun, which topped the Apple Music Nigeria charts and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Top Triller Global charts in December 2021. He further collaborated with Grammy Award-winning producer Rexxie on the EP “Nataraja.” In May 2022, Victony released his seven-track EP “Outlaw,” which included the hit song “Soweto” featuring Tempoe. This track gained popularity on TikTok, and its remix, featuring Rema and Don Toliver, charted in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada. His second studio album, “Stubborn,” released in June 2024, received positive critical acclaim for its experimental sound and lyrical depth, featuring collaborations with artists such as Saint Jhn, Shallipopi, Asake, and Teezo Touchdown.
Victony’s journey has been marked by resilience and continuous artistic development. After the 2021 car accident, which resulted in him using a wheelchair, he notably stood to perform for the first time alongside Davido and Mayorkun in December 2021. He is a graduate of Petroleum Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (F.U.T.O). His work has been recognized with awards, including Best Recording of the Year for “Soweto” at The Headies in 2023. These achievements highlight his impact and growing influence within the global music landscape.
