Weezer is an American rock band that has achieved multi-platinum success and maintains a global fan base. After achieving multi-platinum success with their self-titled debut, known as the Blue Album, Weezer established themselves in rock music following its May 1994 release. The album yielded hit singles ‘Undone The Sweater Song,’ ‘Buddy Holly,’ and ‘Say It Ain’t So.’ The ‘Buddy Holly’ music video earned four MTV Video Music Awards and two Billboard Music Video Awards in 1995, while ‘Say It Ain’t So’ was recognized by Rolling Stone in its list of ‘The Top 100 Guitar Songs of All Time.’ The Blue Album achieved quadruple platinum certification in both the United States and Canada. Weezer followed this breakthrough with Pinkerton (1996), which later garnered cult status.
Commemorating this, they embarked on a UK and Ireland tour alongside Smashing Pumpkins in June, followed by the ‘Voyage to the Blue Planet’ tour in September, performing the album in its entirety. A ‘Super Deluxe Edition’ of the Blue Album is set for release in November 2024, with a scheduled performance at the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas in October 2025.
