About

Elmo Kennedy O’Connor, known as BONES, was born on January 11, 1994, in Muir Beach, California, and later moved to Howell, Michigan, at age 7. He began experimenting with music at age nine, recording raps using his computer’s built-in microphone. At 16, he released his first mixtape in 2010 under the alias ‘Th@ Kid.’ Following this, he made the decision to leave Howell High School and relocate to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. This move marked a significant turning point, allowing him to connect with other artists he met online, including Xavier Wulf, Chris Travis, and Eddy Baker, who would later form the collective Seshollowaterboyz. In 2012, he formally adopted the stage name BONES, coinciding with the release of his self-titled debut album.

Since his debut, BONES has maintained a prolific output, releasing 79 albums and 122 music videos. His consistent work ethic and independent approach have resulted in a substantial discography that includes over 100 albums, mixtapes, and EPs under various aliases such as Th@ Kid, Surrenderdorothy, Oregontrail, and Ricky A Go Go. Notably, he achieves this extensive output without major record label backing, showcasing his self-sufficiency in a competitive industry. His music has garnered significant attention, with millions of monthly listeners on platforms like Spotify. His work has been recognized for pioneering emo-rap and trap metal sub-genres, influencing the sound of modern hip-hop. In 2015, his song “Dirt” was remixed by A$AP Rocky as “Canal St.”, becoming BONES’ first feature on the Billboard charts.

Over the years, BONES has completed four national tours, often accompanied by his supergroup SESHOLLOWATERBOYZ. He has also developed several long-term musical side projects, including Surrenderdorothy and Oregontrail, which explore different musical styles like acoustic guitar and indie rock. His 2014 album, ‘TeenWitch,’ garnered significant media attention due to its themes related to the Columbine High School Massacre. More recently, in 2021, BONES released the album ‘InLovingMemory,’ which blends early 2000s alt-rock with contemporary trap elements. His career is characterized by a strong independent spirit and a continuous evolution of his sound.
