White Denim is an American rock band known for its experimental and genre-blending musical approach, active since 2006. After being awarded ‘Best New Band’ at the 2008 Austin Music Awards, White Denim solidified their reputation as a dynamic American rock band known for their genre-blending and experimental approach, incorporating elements from dub, psychedelic rock, blues, and jazz. Initially forming in March 2005 before performing extensively in the Austin local music scene from February 2006, the group self-released their debut EP, ‘Let’s Talk About It,’ in 2007. This was followed by the nine-song ‘Workout Holiday’ tour EP, exclusively sold at shows.
These early successes led to a deal with netlabel RCRD LBL, culminating in the re-recorded ‘RCRD LBL EP’ in early 2008. Their debut LP, Workout Holiday, which featured re-recorded tracks and new material, launched in June 2008. White Denim expanded their reach by signing with UK record label Full Time Hobby for European releases, and later secured their first US record deal with Downtown Records in July 2009, significantly broadening their distribution. White Denim continued their prolific output with the US full-length LP Explosion in late 2008, followed by Fits via Full Time Hobby in June 2009.
Their album Crystal Bullets / King Tears was released in July 2021, and they collaborated with Raze Regal for Raze Regal & White Denim Inc., released via Bella Union in November 2023. Looking ahead, White Denim’s latest album, 12, was announced in September 2024 and released in December 2024. This release is slated to be supported by an extensive tour across the UK and Ireland, continuing the band’s legacy of innovative live performances and critically acclaimed studio work.
