United States Whitechapel is an American deathcore band with a consistent core lineup that has released nine studio albums and twenty-two music videos.

Whitechapel was formed in February 2006 in Knoxville, Tennessee, by Phil Bozeman, Brandon Cagle, and Ben Savage. Alex Wade, Gabe Crisp, and Derek Martin joined shortly after. The band chose their name from the Whitechapel district in East London, known for the Jack the Ripper murders. In 2007, Whitechapel signed with Siege of Amida Records in the United Kingdom and Candlelight Records in North America. Following this, their debut album, “The Somatic Defilement,” was released in June 2007. Later that year, Brandon Cagle left the band due to a motorcycle accident and was replaced by Zach Householder. The band’s core lineup has remained largely stable since then, with changes primarily occurring in the drummer position.
In October 2007, Whitechapel signed with Metal Blade Records, releasing their second album, “This Is Exile,” in 2008. This album reached No. 118 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Their 2010 album, “A New Era of Corruption,” sold approximately 10,600 copies in its first week and debuted at No. 43 on the Billboard 200. The band released their self-titled fourth album in 2012, which sold roughly 9,200 copies in its first week and debuted at No. 47 on the Billboard 200. In 2014, their fifth album, “Our Endless War,” debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200, selling around 16,000 copies in its first week. Subsequent albums, “Mark of the Blade” (2016) and “The Valley” (2019), also achieved chart success and critical acclaim.
Whitechapel has maintained a consistent recording and touring schedule throughout their career. They announced their ninth studio album, “Hymns in Dissonance,” which was released on March 7, 2025. This album notably returns to the band’s heavier roots, moving away from the clean vocals featured on some previous releases. Over the years, the band has undertaken extensive tours, participated in festivals such as The Summer Slaughter Tour, Rockstar Mayhem Festival, and Warped Tour, and has released numerous music videos, showcasing a sustained presence in the metal music scene.
