Aasif Mandvi

Aasif Mandvi is an award-winning actor, writer, and producer known for his extensive work in television, film, and theatre. After gaining significant recognition for his one-man show, ‘Sakina’s Restaurant,’ which earned him an Obie Award, Aasif Mandvi built a distinguished career spanning television, film, and theatre. His early stage work included performing at Disney-MGM Studios and Universal Studios Florida before relocating to New York City to pursue off-Broadway productions. Mandvi then made his mark on Broadway, playing Ali Hakim in the 2002 production of Oklahoma!

Demonstrating his versatility, Mandvi co-created and starred in the innovative web series Halal in the Family in 2015, which was honored with a Peabody Award for its unique approach to addressing anti-Muslim bigotry through humor. That same year, he served as a writer, producer, and co-star for the HBO comedy series The Brink. His television presence continued to grow with roles in the climate change documentary show Years of Living Dangerously as a correspondent in 2016, and joining the cast of Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events from 2017 to 2018. Since 2019, Mandvi has been a series regular on the critically acclaimed CBS/Paramount+ drama Evil, appearing across multiple seasons through 2024.

His contributions to the arts and public discourse were formally recognized in 2019 when he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree by Macaulay Honors College. Beyond his demanding creative projects, Mandvi remains actively involved in charitable endeavors, lending his support to organizations such as Relief 4 Pakistan and the Endometriosis Foundation of America, underscoring his commitment to social impact.
