Alex Ohanian

Alexis Ohanian is an American internet entrepreneur and investor recognized for co-founding Reddit and his subsequent ventures in venture capital and social impact. He established Seven Seven Six to invest in early-stage companies and launched the 776 Foundation to combat global inequity. After co-founding Reddit with Steve Huffman in 2005, Alex Ohanian secured initial funding from Y Combinator before the social news aggregation site was acquired by Condé Nast for an estimated $10–$20 million in 2006. Continuing his entrepreneurial endeavors, Ohanian launched Breadpig in 2007, a company specializing in ‘geeky merchandise’ with all proceeds donated to charity.

In 2022, Ohanian further extended his philanthropic efforts by launching the 776 Foundation, dedicating an initial $20 million commitment to support young innovators tackling climate change. Ohanian continued his dedication to women’s sports in 2024 by launching Athlos, a groundbreaking women’s-only track and field event. His significant investment in the sector continued into May 2025, when he acquired a 10 percent share of Chelsea Women FC for £20 million, further solidifying his position as a key figure in the burgeoning women’s sports landscape.
