Alexa Towersey – also known as “Action Alexa” – is a celebrity trainer, international sports model and lifestyle/nutrition coach. With more than 15 years of experience in the health and fitness business, she began her career as a body double for iconic American fitness model Victoria Prat and went on to work with the All Blacks world champion rugby team and as a judge for the globally acclaimed Body for Life competition. During a 7 year stint in Hong Kong in an MMA Gym she was named one of the top 5 “Toughest Trainers in Asia”, and has become renowned for the installing a stellar work ethic in everyone she trains. Towersey qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Champs, and is an ambassador for Livin – an organisation which delivers mental health programs in sports club, schools and more. The fitness guru turned her own life around after the loss of her father to alcohol addiction, and is in-demand as a keynote speaker who regularly talks about her own experiences within the mental health space.
Towersey was born into a military family and started her fitness journey after she was bullied for being too skinny at school. After hitting the gym, she developed her mental and physical strength and also studied biology, psychology, sports management, journalism and kinesiology. After a stint working in PR in Hong Kong she was offered the Head Strength and Conditioning Role at an MMA Facility and studied under industry leaders to become one of Asia’s toughest trainers.
After relocating to Australia her career sky rocketed as she graced the cover of several fitness magazines and became a monthly contributor to Maxim TV and Maxim Magazine Australia/NZ. Towersey has a monthly column for Strong Magazine Australia focussing on mental health named “Living Strong with Lex”.
