A two-time gold medalist with the United States team at the 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the 2010 FIBA Under-17 World Championship, Andre Drummond then led St. Thomas More to a national prep championship in 2011. He played one season of college basketball at the University of Connecticut, appearing in 34 games with 30 starts, where he led the team in rebounds per game (7.6), blocks per game (2.7), and field goal percentage (.538), averaging 10.0 points in 28.4 minutes. Following his freshman year, Drummond declared for the 2012 NBA draft and was selected ninth overall by the Detroit Pistons.
Beyond his impressive NBA career, Drummond also contributed to international success, securing a gold medal at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Since 2016, he has actively served as a global ambassador for the Special Olympics. Most recently, Andre Drummond rejoined the Philadelphia 76ers in 2024, continuing his impact in the NBA. With a career defined by leading the league in rebounding multiple times and consistent high-level performance across various teams, Drummond remains a highly sought-after talent, known for his relentless effort and proven ability to dominate the paint.
