During this memorable run, Miller achieved national recognition with a rare triple-double of 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists against Arizona in the 1998 West Regional finals. He concluded his collegiate career in 1999 as Utah’s all-time leader in steals with 254 and second in assists with 721, earning First Team All-America honors and being named WAC Player of the Year. Miller was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the eighth overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft, averaging 11.1 points and 5.8 assists per game in his rookie year (1999-2000) and earning a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Millers impact with the Cavaliers was immediate, earning him two Player of the Week awards and setting a franchise record of 882 total assists during the 200102 NBA season, leading the entire league in assists per game with 10.9.
He remains the only player in NBA history to accumulate at least 16,000 points, 8,000 assists, and 1,500 steals without an NBA All-Star Game selection. After retiring from playing professional basketball in 2016, Miller transitioned his extensive experience and strategic insight into coaching. He currently serves as the head coach for the Grand Rapids Gold in the NBA G League, a position he has held since 2022.
