Anne-Elizabeth Stone

Anne-Elizabeth Stone, born on December 31, 1990, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, began her fencing career at age nine in Chicago, Illinois. Her initial exposure to the sport came after her father noticed a flyer for a fencing club. Stone, whose full name is Anne-Elizabeth Leigh Stone, attended Princeton University, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Theory. During her collegiate years, she achieved significant athletic milestones, including first place in women’s individual saber and team at the 2013 NCAA Fencing Championships, along with third place in women’s individual saber and second place in team at the 2012 NCAA Fencing Championships. She also secured second place in women’s individual saber at the 2011 NCAA Fencing Championships. Post-graduation, Stone served as a volunteer assistant coach for the men’s fencing team at Princeton.

Stone became a prominent figure in international fencing, joining the US national team during the 2012–13 season. She earned a silver medal at the Pan American Championships in 2013 and contributed to a team bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships in Budapest. Her career continued to progress with a team gold medal at the 2014 World Fencing Championships in Kazan. A notable individual achievement was an individual bronze medal at the 2018 World Fencing Championships in Wuxi. In June 2019, she secured her first individual gold medal at the Pan American Games, reaching a career-high world ranking of 5th in women’s sabre. She represented the United States at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, competing in both individual and team sabre events. Stone’s hobbies include reading and listening to audiobooks.

Beyond her athletic pursuits, Stone is committed to further education and service. She joined the US Navy Medical Corps in 2022 and is currently pursuing a medical doctorate from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. This career progression reflects a dedication to both highly competitive sport and the field of medicine. Stone has also worked as a laboratory chemist at Lotus Separations, LLC, demonstrating a diverse professional background.
