The breathtaking Benjamin Poirier is a French dancer and model. He is presently a member of the Spanish National Dance Company’s Corps de Ballet (Compaa Nacional de Danza) in Madrid. He has performed as a corps de ballet in Don Quixote (Martnez), Carmen (Inger), and as a principal dancer in Suite No. 2 Op. 17, III Romance (Scholz) and Artifact Suite (Forsythe). He’s also been seen as a soloist in Forsythe’s Enemy in the Figure, Kilián’s Gods and Dogs, and Duato’s Por Vos Muero.
Poirer was born in Vire, Normandy, in the north of France. He studied ballet at the Paris National Opera Ballet School (École De Danse De L’opéra National De Paris) in Nanterre, where Claude Bessy and Elisabeth Platel directed him, and afterwards at the English National Ballet School, where Jane Hackett directed him. In 2008, he joined the Leipzig Opera Ballet as a demi-soloist, performing in works such as Cinderella (Tankard), Jeunehomme (Scholz), Les Noces (Bigonzetti), Ago (Balanchine), and The Taming of the Shrew (Balanchine) (Cranko).
He joined Mexico’s National Dance Company (Compaa Nacional de Danza) in 2012, where he danced lead roles in choreographies such as La Esmeralda (Burlaka, Medvedev), La Bayadére (Petipa), L’Oiseau de Feu (Béjart), and Giselle (Coralli, Perrot). He also appeared in a number of ballets, including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and The Sleeping Beauty (all directed by Chalmer). Poirier has performed galas and events in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, the United States, Italy, France, Spain, Austria, Germany, China, and Japan throughout his career.
