Bret Shuford and Stephen Hanna, known as the Broadway Husbands, leverage their extensive theatrical careers and experiences in surrogacy and LGBTQ+ parenting to inspire and guide others.
Bret and Stephen wanted to share their knowledge and expertise related to the performing arts, entrepreneurship, parenting, surrogacy and the LGBTQ+ experience. The Postcard Agency handled an influencer PR campaign for them, which later won a Gold Hermes Award.

Shuford and Hanna announced a partnership with Scenery Bags, where a portion of profits from their Broadway Husbands-designed messenger bag goes to charity.

Bret Shuford developed a passion for movie musicals from an early age, which led him to performing in local theater, commercials, and films in Orange, Texas, from the age of five. His dedication to performing continued as he spent two decades working on Broadway. During this period, he was cast in Disney Theatrical productions such as “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.” His work in theater led him to meet ballet dancer and actor Stephen Hanna, who later became his husband. Shuford also pursued acting in film and television, appearing in independent features before securing a role in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” alongside Matthew McConaughey.
Stephen Hanna and Bret Shuford met in 2006 while working on Broadway. Through their platform, Broadway Husbands, they share their personal and professional journey, including their experiences with surrogacy and parenting as an LGBTQ+ couple. They have established a community for parents, offering insights into performing arts, entrepreneurship, and the LGBTQ+ experience. Their work extends to assisting others in navigating their own career and personal paths.
Both Shuford and Hanna have used their personal narratives to inspire and educate. Shuford became a certified Life Coach and launched a YouTube channel to demonstrate that career fulfillment is achievable. Together, they discuss topics such as navigating the surrogacy process, overcoming setbacks, and finding support systems. They advocate for inclusivity in family values, believing that all families are distinct and deserving of love and affirmation. Their shared experiences and professional backgrounds contribute to their work in fostering a supportive community.
