About

Andrew Rea, known as Binging with Babish, established his YouTube channel on August 21, 2006. Initially, three videos unrelated to Binging with Babish were uploaded in 2007 and 2010. The Binging with Babish series officially began on February 10, 2016, with an episode focused on recreating a burger from “Parks and Recreation.” The channel gained significant traction on November 14, 2016, with a video recreating the “Moistmaker” sandwich from “Friends.” This event marked a turning point, contributing to the channel’s rapid growth driven by fan promotion on platforms like Reddit. Rea subsequently transitioned to working full-time on his channel after achieving a monthly income goal through Patreon.

Rea expanded his content offerings beyond the initial Binging with Babish series. On October 12, 2017, he launched “Basics with Babish,” a series dedicated to teaching fundamental cooking techniques and recipes. From August 2020, production of “Binging with Babish” moved to a dedicated home studio in Brooklyn. Rea has also authored cookbooks; his first, “Eat What You Watch: A Cookbook for Movie Lovers,” was published on October 3, 2017, followed by “Binging with Babish: 100 Recipes Recreated from Your Favorite Movies and TV Shows” on October 22, 2019. The channel further broadened its scope to include various spin-off series, such as “Botched by Babish,” “What’s in the Fridge,” “Can Babish Beat?,” “Ranked with Babish,” and “Cookalongs,” which started on February 18, 2025. Additionally, the Babish Culinary Universe has integrated series hosted by other chefs and content creators, fostering a diverse culinary community.

Throughout his career, Rea has received industry recognition, including a Streamy Award for Food in 2019. By September 2, 2025, the Babish Culinary Universe channel had accumulated 10.4 million subscribers and 3 billion views. The channel’s evolution reflects a consistent strategy of content diversification and community engagement, transforming a niche concept into a multifaceted culinary media enterprise.
