The great equestrian Boyd Martin is professional horse rider, and trainer, who specialises in eventing. He is a 3x Pan American Games Champion, a 2x 5-Star Winner, and a World Championships Silver-medalist. He has also competed in three consecutive Olympic Games: London 2012, Rio 2016, and at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Games.
Born and raised in New South Wales, Australia to an American father and an Australian mother, Martin started riding at a young age. After schooling he worked at an equestrian centre perfecting his horsemanship and building up his own business. He represented Australia at young rider level, winning the CCI 4* event at Adelaide in 2003. In 2007, after competing in the United States, he decided to relocate to the nation of his father and start over, building up a business and aiming to compete internationally for his newly adopted country.
Having dual citizenship Martin started representing the United States in 2009 going on to compete at the World Equestrian Games, the Pan American Games, and three Olympics. He won three Gold medals at the Pan American Games in 2015 and 2019, two for team eventing, and one for individual eventing, and a Silver at the World Championships in 2022 for team eventing.
